We Need Each Other

Welcome back to our 40 day journey through the season of Lent.

Day 37

We all have people in our lives who influence us - some positively and some negatively. Today's Bible passage talks to us about the necessity of choosing the right people – people who will influence us positively and help us the best achieve in life.

Proverbs 13: 20 ...

The one who walks with the wise will become wise, but a companion of fools will suffer harm.

There's a saying that: “You’re the average of the five people you spend most of your time with.” If this is true, the people we spend our lives with daily influence our lives a great deal - possibly more than we're aware of!!

It's for this reason that Scripture exhorts us in Hebrews 10: 25 to, “not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Following the wrong people in this life will cost us. They have nothing good to offer but will often find a way to pull us down.

In the Old Testament, we read how Samson suffered this, when he followed the wrong woman, against his parents' advice, and his power was taken from him. If Samson had stayed with the right people, the people of God, and not gone with the wrong people, he probably would have stay alive for more years.

As Believers , we need to move with the people of God. We must not be isolated. When there is wind and you are going alone, you can easily be blown away, but when you are many and hold onto each other, you will stand firm. Fellowship with fellow-Believers, people with the same mind, same goal, and same direction, is a gift from the Lord.

If you're not in the habit of attending a local church or a life group, I encourage you to look out for a Bible-teaching church community in your area and get plugged in. Your life will be enriched in ways can't begin to imagine!
