Recharge Time

Today was Day 3 of my 15 Minute Declutter Challenge, and the task was to declutter the kitchen junk drawer.

Actually, my junk drawer wasn't as bad as it's been at other times in my life (it's been BAD!!)

I did throw out pens that don't work, expired medicine we got for one of the dogs last year, and random bits of paper!

And the drawer got a good tidy-up, so it looks almost empty now.

One thing we had A LOT of in that drawer, were chargers ... We have 2 battery chargers, a cell phone charger, and an electric screwdriver with a recharge cable!

I remember when cell phones first came out (yes, I'm that old!), my husband taught me to never recharge my phone until the battery was extremely low (it had something to do with the nickel cadmium batteries old phones had). While this was good advice for preserving a cell phone battery, it's terrible advice for the Christ-follower.

Sadly, many Believers go through life exhausted, joyless, and victory-less, because they allow their spirits to be rundown and running on reserve. And very often, this is because they fail to recharge FREQUENTLY. We recharge our spiritual lives through taking regular time to pray, read the Word, worship, and commune with God.

In the same way that our bodies will starve and dehydrate without regular intake of food and water, it's equally true that unless we partake of spiritual nourishinment on a regular basis, we starve spiritually.

Starved Christians are generally those who feel out of contact with fellow-Believers, and who experience frustrations, uncertainties, and powerlessness far more often than they feel joy, and freedom, and peace. And for most, the underlying cause may well be the sin of willful starvation - a failure to use the spiritual food God has given, without which no Christ-follower can live as he or she should, in the freedom and victory Christ died to gain for us.

I encourage you today: don't get so busy that you don't have the time to meet with the Father - daily, and continually!
