"It Is Finished"

God's Word truly is amazing - I love how today's Bible verses line up with what I shared yesterday! Welcome back to day 22 of our Easter journey.

Day 22

Today our Bible reading passage is John 19: 28 - 30 ...

After this, when Jesus knew that everything was now accomplished that the Scripture might be fulfilled, He said, “I’m thirsty!” 29 A jar full of sour wine was sitting there; so they fixed a sponge full of sour wine on hyssop and held it up to His mouth.

30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” Then bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

When we go through trials and tragedies in our lives, we can easily forget the significance of those three words that Jesus spoke in today's Scripture passage ... “It is finished.”

Jesus was beaten, spat on, accused, betrayed, and hung on a cross with nails pierced into His hands and feet to redeem us. In the final moments of His life, He spoke these words over our lives - over the pain we endure, challenges that we come up against, struggles we deal with, and weaknesses we realise we have.

The enemy has been trying since the beginning to steal, kill, and destroy everything that God has given to

us. Satan wants to steal your abundant life that God has ordained, and rob you of your peace so that you will be downcast and distracted by the troubles that you are facing.

If he succeeds, you will never experience the true purpose that God desires for you.

But with His blood, Jesus paid the price and gave us freedom and power from the bondage of the adversary!

Because of His victory on our behalf, when we face hard, painful things, we don’t face them alone. Because of His victory on the cross, Jesus is and will always be the redemption that we truly need.

If your current situation is challenging, be encouraged by looking at these three words today: “It is finished.”

Take heed to these words and allow them to change your perception about the things you have been dealing with. Preach to yourself: "It is Finished. I have been redeemed!"
