Welcome, and thank you for joining me here for Day 3 of my current blogging series. We celebrating the season of Advent, reading through "Meet Him at the Manger" by Jill and Stuart Briscoe.

The passage of Scripture we're reading today is Luke 2: 30 - 32 ...

"I have seen your salvation, which You have prepared for all people. He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and He is the glory of Your people Israel!”

What a wonderful, joyful, hopeful passage of Scripture this is!!

Simeon, who had spent years in studying the Scripture and praying to see the Saviour come, has his faith rewarded in this glorious meeting between man and God!

So in tune was his life with the voice of God that Simeon is led to the temple on that specific day by the very Spirit of God! Oh, I long for that closeness with the Father - that depth of relationship that I know without a doubt when He speaks and where He leads!!

And the outcome of His faith and unfailing hope in the promises of God?

"Simeon now had the peace of seeing God’s promise fulfilled in his life." (David Guzik)

I pray that we will all enjoy a "Simeon moment" during this Advent - a moment where we know we're in the Light of God, and then we go on to proclaim to others that the Light has come.

As Stuart and Jill Briscoe state in today’s devotional: "The Gentiles certainly needed some light to banish their hopeless despair." And we can certainly echo that thought today - the world needs the Hope that is only found in Christ Jesus to dispel the fear and despair they experience all day long.
